Walnut Grove and Wheatland will meet for the second time in two weeks in the Class 1 District 6 championship game in Humansville on Saturday after the top two seeds both won on Thursday.
Walnut Grove was dominant in a 59-11 win over Halfway. Ellie Smith Scored 15 to lead the Lady Tigers followed closely by Rachel Kruger with 14.
The second game of the night was much tighter with Wheatland needing overtime to beat Fair Play 65-55. The two teams were tied at 52 after regulation. Wheatland outscored Fair Play 13-3 in the extra frame. Foul trouble hit Fair Play hard with three starters fouling out in the game.
Wheatland was led by Kiarah Blation’s 36-point effort. Ally Sawyer was also in double figures with 11.
Fair Play was led by Mackenzie Evans with 18 points.
Walnut Grove and Wheatland will meet for the Class 1 District 6 Championship at 5 pm on Saturday in Humansville. The Lady Tigers beat Wheatland 43-18 on Feb. 14.
