Thayer uses big fourth quarter to win 12th consecutive district championship

The Thayer and Liberty boys met just six days ago to close out the regular season with Thayer using a big fourth quarter to come away with a 64-49 win.

On Friday in the Class 3 District 10 championship game, it was much the same story with the Bobcats once again using a big fourth quarter to secure a 12th consecutive district title.

Thayer opened up with a 10-4 lead after one quarter. Liberty carried a 23-14 lead in the middle two quarters to take a 27-24 lead into the final quarter.

In the final frame, exploded for 20 points while the defense held Liberty to just seven points. Brandon Prince went for nine of his game-high 18 points it the decisive fourth quarter. Devin Harrington was consistent throughout the game on his way to 14 points.

Liberty was paced by 13 points from Parker Tune and 10 from Drayton Wells.

Thayer will travel to Fair Grove for a Class 3 sectional game at 6 pm on Monday.
