Norwood storms back from slow start to beat Iberia in Class 2 sectional

Norwood’s quest for a third consecutive trip to the Class 2 final four was appeared to be in serious jeopardy after one quarter in Tuesday night’s sectional game at Iberia.

The Rangers led Norwood 13-5 after one quarter.

Norwood regrouped during the break and got to work. The Pirates chopped the deficit down to five, 24-19 at the half. Addy Gray was the catalyst in that pivotal second quarter hitting three 3-pointers. She knocked down six total 3-point shots in the game on her way to a game-high 19 points.

They made a big move in the third quarter taking the frame 13-5 to build a 32-29 lead after three quarters.

In the fourth quarter, Norwood kept Iberia at arm’s length with a 13-10 advantage over the final eight minutes to take the win.

Iberia was led by Jaylyn Piggott and Alexa Rowden with 12 points each.

Norwood (24-5) will host Marionville (21-7) on Saturday with a trip to the Class 2 final four on the line.
