The top four seeds advanced to the Class 5 District 6 semifinals with wins on Wednesday.
No. 2 Parkview opened up the tournament with a 66-54 win over No. 7 West Plains. The Vikings were in control throughout taking an eight-point lead after one quarter and 13-points lead at the half. Carlitos Sanchez scored 23 points to lead Parkview and all scorers. West Plains was paced by 20 points from Josiah Long.
The Vikings advance to face No. 3 Carl Junction which beat Willard 85-68. Cooper Vediz and Brody Pant put on a show for the Bulldogs with 34 points for Vediz and 26 for Pant. Nahmy Kelley led Willard with 17 points.
Parkview and Carl Junction will face off in the semifinal round at 7:30 pm on Friday.
Top-seeded Springfield Central took a 51-16 lead at the half of the way to an 89-34 win over McDonald County. Keion Epps led all scorers with 16 points and became Central’s all-time leading scorer in the process. Nathan Brewer (15 points), Bryce Walker (11 points), Tryton Jackson (10 points) and Brody Holland (10 points) all scored in double figures for Central. McDonald County was led by 11 points from Anthony D’Amico.
Central will play host No. 4 Webb City in the semifinal round after the Cardinals mounted a second-half comeback to beat Hillcrest. Hillcrest took a 27-25 lead at the half. Webb City came out of the break with a 21-16 advantage in the third quarter to gain the lead back and then outscored Hillcrest 17-15 in the final quarter to secure the win.
Holton Keith led Webb City with 20 points followed closely by Travien Turner and Eliott Pace with 19 points each.
Sophomore Kyrese Simpson scored 25 points to lead all scorers and eclipse the 1,000-point mark for his career. Jayven Jones (15 points) and Taner Hicks (12 points) also scored in double figures for Hillcrest.
No. 1 Central and No. 4 Webb City will play in the semifinal round at 6 pm on Friday.
