All of the top four seeds advanced in semifinal round of the Class 5 District 6 semifinal with wins on Thursday.
Top-seeded Marshfield was dominant defensively on the way to a 70-12 win to open the tournament. Peyton Ward scored 23 points while Izzy Cherne chipped in 14 in the win.
No. 4 seed Webb City had to hold off a second-half comeback by Willard to hold onto a 55-50 win. The Lady Cardinals jumped out to a 20-7 lead after one quarter and 35-19 lead at the half.
In the second half, Willard outscored Webb City 31-20, but Webb City held on. Adalyn Maxwell (15 points), Whitlee Keith (13 points) and Abby Sargent (13 points) all scored in double figures for Webb City. Kennidy Keller led Willard with 16 points.
Marshfield and Webb City will face off in the Class 5 District 6 semifinal round at 1 pm on Saturday in Willard.
No. 2 seed Hillcrest beat city rival Central 56-27 in the third semifinal. The Lady Hornets had 10 different players score in the game led by Serenity Johnson and Nevaeh Shockley with 11 points each.
West Plains capped the first night of the Class 5 District 6 tournament with an 84-63 win over McDonald County. Gillian Green (20 points), Lucy Hafer (17 points), Delani Wahome (15 points) and Renetta Peterson (14 points) paced West Plains in the win.
McDonald County had three players in double figures including Dakota O’Brien (16 points), Carlie Martin (15 points) and Jamie Washam (14 points).
No. 2 Hillcrest and No. 3 West Plains play in the semifinal round at 2:30 pm on Saturday in Willard. The two teams split their regular season matchups with Hillcrest winning 62-53 in the Pink & White Lady Classic semifinals on Dec. 30 and West Plains winning the regular season matchup 58-51 on Feb. 24.
