Strafford & Bolivar advance to Class 4 District 10 championship game

Top two seeds Strafford and Bolivar advanced to the Class 4 District 10 semifinals with wins on Thursday.

Strafford was dominant from the outset in a 61-17 win over Buffalo. The Lady Indians outscored Buffalo 17-5 in the first quarter and took a 39-7 lead at the break. Kinley Larsen scored 14 points to lead 10 total Strafford players that scored in the game. Trista Vanhorn was also in double figures with 12 points.

Kenzie Wilson scored 10 points to lead Buffalo.

Bolivar found itself in a much tighter battle with Osage. The No. 2 Lady Liberators trailed Osage 16-11 after one quarter. They responded win the second quarter with an 11-5 advantage to take a 22-21 lead into the break. Osage tied the game up with a one-point advantage in the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, it was Bolivar’s free throw shooting that proved to be the difference. The Lady Liberators were 19-for-24 from the free throw line in the final quarter. All but five of Bolivar’s points were scored from the free throw line in the final eight minutes.

No. 1 Strafford and No. 2 Bolivar will play for the Class 4 District 10 district championship at 7 pm on Saturday. The matchup pits one of the smallest enrollments in Class 4 in Strafford (324 students) and Bolivar (623 students).
