Greenfield softball returns seven starters looking to improve on last season’s four-win campaign.

Junior Alyssa DeJager will be the top pitcher in the circle. Chloe Jones (sophomore) will also pitch.

Jones and incoming freshman Addington Roberts will catch.

Look for Roberts (first base), Karlee Johnson (second base), Adalynn O’Connor (third base) and Cailey Boyd (shortstop) on the infield. All but Roberts are returners this season.

Delaney Lollar, Reyanah Chandler and Joyhannah Hughes are in the outfield. Lollar and Chandler are returning lettermen.

“Defense will be the key to success for the team this season. This will be the second season working together and returning most of the field,” Greenfield head coach Melissa Hull said. “Offense will need to improve, hitting and running. We lost some speed and hitters from last year. Patience at bat will be a key for us.”

Greenfield opens the regular season on Mar. 25 at home against Miller.

“This team needs to find a way to win and have a better season record than last season for them to boost morale,” Hull said. “I have faith in them to come together and achieve a winning season. Being a small school the athletes are usually the same athletes that do every sport they can. They have had success in other sports this year and I see it for the softball season also. Lady Wildcat softball will be successful this year.”
