Walnut Grove’s seniors came through in their final game in Walnut Grove uniforms beating Rock Port 58-45 to win the Class 1 third place game on Saturday.
Seniors Ellie Smith, Jacie Gavisk and Kelli Albert combined to score 48 of the team’s 58 points.
Rock Port jumped on Walnut Grove in the first half taking an eight-point lead, 20-12, nine seconds into the second quarter.
From there, it was all Walnut Grove as the Lady Tigers turned an eight-point deficit into an 18-point win.
Gavisk led all scorers with 23 points. Smith, who played the entire playoff run on a torn ACL, scored 16 with 6 assists and 6 rebounds. Albert scored nine points in her final game for Walnut Grove.
Walnut Grove finishes the season with a 24-6 overall record. The Lady Tigers graduate a four-player senior class that includes Smith, Gavisk, Albert and Rachael Kruger.
