Cabool graduated just one player from last season’s roster, so the Lady Bulldogs are ready to add wins coming off a four-win campaign.

“The Cabool softball team is heading into the 2025 season with a renewed sense of determination and excitement,” first-year Cabool head coach Cali Walls said. “This group of athletes is ready to change the narrative. They are passionate about the game, eager to improve, and committed to putting in the work necessary to compete at a higher level. What sets this team apart is their undeniable love for softball and their belief in their own potential. They know that success isn’t just about talent, it’s about effort, discipline, and trust in the process. From day one, they’ve shown a willingness to embrace tough practices, refine their fundamentals, and grow together as a team. This season isn’t about dwelling on the past– it’s about proving what they’re capable of. With a fresh approach, strong work ethic, and a team-first mentality, these girls are ready to take the field and make a statement.”

Walls wants here team to trust the process.

“One of the biggest challenges for this team isn’t effort— it’s patience,” Walls said. “They’re putting in the work and eager to see results, but building a successful program takes time. Growth doesn’t happen overnight, and while progress will come, we have to focus on laying a strong foundation first. Trusting the process, staying disciplined, and committing to long-term improvement will be key to turning this program around.”

Look for Emily Mayberry (junior) and Bristol McCall (sophomore) to handle the pitching duties.

Paige Moore (sophomore) and Raeah Shelton (freshman) will be behind the plate at catcher.

Caylee Hamilton will anchor the outfield in centerfield in her sophomore season.

Walls is looking for Mayberry and junior Cambree Woodard to be team leaders.

“Emily is the heart of the team, a natural leader who exudes confidence and determination. She is driven to succeed, embraces the team’s vision, and inspires those around her with her passion and leadership,” Walls said. “Cambree is a standout on the field, a natural talent who leads not with words, but through her actions. Her quiet leadership speaks volumes, setting the standard for those around her.”

Cabool opens season on Mar. 22 at home in the Cabool Classic.

“My expectation for this season is simple: I want these girls to truly discover the game of softball—the strategy, the grind, the heart—and fall in love with it,” Walls said. “When they play for the love of the game, that passion will fuel their growth, their effort, and their determination to be better every single day. Wins and stats will come, but first, they have to love the game. That’s where greatness starts.”
