McDonald County soccer returns one varsity starter from last season’s three-win team.
Sophomores Camren Pippin, Deysi Deleon, and Angelita Sotz and junior Esmeralda Zacarias will lead the attack at forward.
Juniors Harley Collins and Ashley Zacarias along with sophomores Palmy Tosimo and Emily Nunez will be in the midfield.
Seniors Esmeralda Fuentes and Jenny Garcia will anchor the defense. Sophomores Annette Cejudo, Mckenzie Willis, and Diamond Zuniga will be on the outside of the defense.
Senior Joslyn Royce will be the top goalkeeper, but could also move to a spot in the field. Sophomore Valeria Carbajal could also challenge for varsity minutes at keeper.
Upperclassmen provide the leadership this season.
“”The upperclassmen have done a great job of leading by example and helping the new girls. We’ve had a strong offseason that has really allowed the team to gel,” McDonald County head coach Nathan Haikey said.
McDonald County opens the season on Mar. 25 at New Covenant Academy.
“We are really excited about our returning players as well as the new players who have come out for soccer this season,” Haikey said.
