The junior and senior seasons for athletes are important for recruiting.
It’s their last two chances to showcase their skills in front of college coaches, but it’s tough to do so if you get hurt.
For the last few years, Nixa fans have become used to seeing Ramone Green in the endzone, but last season that opportunity was taken away.
“I broke my collar bone,” the senior running back said.
Ramone sat out almost his entire junior season.
“I only got to play like one game, so I had to sit and watch all those games. It was really tough just working really hard during the summer and then getting injured in the second game was really tough for me mentally,” Green said.
Tough mentally and for recruiting.
“It hurt a little bit because everyone was dying to see me play the season and then recruiting went down a little bit,” he added.
As a sophomore, Green rushed for 1,300 yards and 18 touchdowns. With little game footage from his junior season, he’s now worked his way back to healthy and on to recruiting boards.
“I’ve been able to get back out to camps and my recruiting’s been picking up a little bit,” he said.
All eyes are on Ramone’s senior year and he says he’s ready.
“People are kind of like ‘eh he didn’t play’ so going out to the camps and showing them that I’m still Ramone Green, I can still do these things has been really big for me. I don’t like to dwell on it too much, I don’t like to feel like there’s too much pressure on me. It’s pretty big, I am super excited,” said Ramone.
