The Glendale girl’s tennis team is having a year for the record books, from going undefeated in the regular season to winning the Ozark Conference. The team is led by number one singles and doubles player Chloe Stenger.

Have you ever tried a new sport because you wanted to hang out with your friends? Chloe Stenger has.

“My best friend wanted to start playing so we started taking lessons,” she said.

Shortly after, Chloe fell in love with tennis.

“It’s just a really good sport for me,” Chloe added.

She has gotten really good at it. The Junior is in her second season as the top player for Glendale.

“She’s so consistent, she’s a lefty, she doesn’t overhit a ton, but she creates a lot of pace. She’s got the stroke down to know where the baseline is and pins that ball on the baseline a ton,” Glendale tennis coach Andrew Pohlman said.

However, being the best player on the best team takes a lot of court time.

“Focused and dedicated to the art of tennis. During the season we would have practice and she would stay after practice to work with a pro or work with me and we would work on things even after everybody has left. Her dedication to this team is none that I’ve ever seen before,” Pohlman said.

That dedication is paying off. The Lady Falcons went 16-0 in the regular season and Chloe won the Springfield Invite. Success that comes from that extra practice time.

“Honestly, I’ve gotten just a lot more confidence than anything else and getting the experience through the years. A lot of practice, I play year-round and I play tournaments outside of school,” Chloe said.

With an entire senior year still ahead, the best may be yet to come for Chloe.

“Just having that experience at the top that’s fought through so much this year, we’re going to be strong next year,” Pohlman said.
