Fred Lundien takes over as head coach of the Humansville boys basketball program this season. He spent the past three years at Bronaugh.

He inherits a squad that has had back-to-back winning seasons including a 16-12 record last year.

“I am excited to coach these boys this year and the boys are ready for basketball season,” Lundien said. “They have a lot to prove this year and are excited for the opportunity.”

Seniors Tucker Ahlers and Wyatt Foley along with Kade White return to lead Humansville.

“I coached these kids in the summer and they have a lot of ability and talent,” Lundien said. “Tucker is our overall leader. He led Humansville in points and rebounds last season. He is a hard worker and loves basketball. Wyatt and Kade are very good defenders. They are fast they get after it. We should be a faster team this year.”

Ahlers earned first-team all-conference honors last season after he averaged 16.6 points and 8.5 rebounds per game to go with 2.7 assists and 1.7 steals. White was also a double-digit scorer averaging 10.8 points, 2.9 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game. Foley added in 6.8 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game.

Sophomores Ty Ahlers, Waylon Proctor, Kylan Vorwark, along with juniors Blake Gwinn and Gage Kenney also return this season.

Humansville also added senior Aymeric Otto. He is a foreign exchange student from Belgium who is a strong shooter and natural athlete.

Lundien has seen good improvement from his team since taking over.

“To me, all the kids have made tremendous progress,” Lundien said. “They love to play basketball. They are always wanting to get in the gym and play and because of this all of them are starting to learn how to bond and play together.”

Humansville opens the season on Nov. 18 at School of the Ozarks.

“I believe that we have an experienced team with good leadership,” Lundien said. “I think defensively we will be pretty tough. We are also pretty solid at attacking the rim and finishing on the offensive end. I am excited to see what we are made of.”
