Fordland shines defensively in district opening victory

No. 2 seed Fordland held No. 7 seed New Covenant to just nine first-half points on the way to a 59-31 win in the opening round of the Class 2 District 11 tournament.

The Eagles scored 26 points in the first half to take a commanding halftime lead.

Eight different Eagles scored in the game led by Emma Trotter with 15 points. Lillian Kindall also scored in double figures with 12 points.

New Covenant was led by nine points each from Raegan Ellis and Lily Auer.

Fordland advances to face No. 3 seed Blue Eye in the semifinal round at 7:30 pm on Thursday.
