Seneca got big games from Hazley Grotjohn and Parker Long to hold off Monett for a 50-45 win in the Class 4 District 12 semifinals.
Grotjohn and Long combined to score 45 of Seneca’s 50 points in the game.

Seneca was up 11-8 after one quarter before Monett cut the lead by one to 19-17 heading into the half. Out of the break, Seneca extended the lead back out with an 11-8 advantage in the quarter to create a 30-26 advantage on the scoreboard after three quarters. In the fourth quarter, both offense came alive with Seneca coming out on top 20-19 in the frame to take the 50-45 win.
Grotjohn scored a game-high 26 points with Long adding in 19 points. The duo scored all 31 of Seneca’s second-half points.
Seneca advances to face top-seeded Aurora for the Class 4 District 12 championship on Saturday night at 6 pm in Monett.
