Nixa 6, Republic 2 – FINAL – RECAPPHOTOS VIDEO

Class 5 District 7: CLICK FOR BRACKET
McDonald County 1, Warrensburg 0 – FINAL
*McDonald County scored once in the second inning and that was enough for pitcher Cross Dowd. Dowd went 6 2/3 innings of shutout ball on the mound with nine strikeouts.
Webb City 3, Belton 2 – FINAL/8
*Webb City scored twice in the first inning and once in the eighth inning to beat Belton and advance to the distrit title game. Kaylor Darnell went 5 1/3 innings with four strikeouts and a 1.12 WHIP. He was relieved by Walker Sweet who went 2 2/3 innings with five strikeouts.

Monett 1, Seneca 0 – FINAL/8 – PHOTOS
*Monett got a masterful pitching performance from Marcus Young who went eight innings of no-hit ball. The Cubs won the game on a walk-off walk in the eighth inning.

Gainesville 6, Seymour 5 – FINAL – PHOTOS
*Gainesville came from behind with three runs in the sixth inning to beat Seymour. Seymour led the game from the start with two runs in the top of the first inning. The Tigers led by three runs two separate times. Chade Noble went 5 2/3 innings with 12 strikeouts. Noble also had two hits and a game-high three RBI. Gainesville was led by Hunter Luna and Aden Yarger. Luna pitched 4 1/3 innings with six strikeouts. Yarger pitched 1 2/3 innings while also driving in two runs on two hits. Wyatt Alms also had two RBI for Gainesville.

TENNIS

Class 2 and 3 singles and doubles state tennis got underway on Thursday. Willard’s Caden Lingenfelser is the area’s lone remaining player in contention for a state title. He won his first match by forfeit and second match 6-1, 6-0 to advance to the Class 2 state semifinals. He will face Max Chen from Ladue Horton Watkins at 8 am on Friday with a spot in the state title match on the line.

Dawson Amstutz and Seth Miller from Willard will play in the doubles consolation semifinals on Saturday and are guaranteed a medal. Thomas Jefferson’s Prithvi Nagarajan will play in the singles consolation semifinals.

Central’s Raghav Bansal is the lone remaining area player in Class 3 playing in the singles consolation semifinals on Friday morning.
