Kickapoo’s volleyball team goes as senior Bella Faria goes. “Bella is our constant communicator,” said Kickapoo Head Coach Marci Adams. “Our full-go competitor. And whenever the heat is on, she wants the ball.”
And as the temperature turned up, Bella led the Lady Chiefs to unprecedented heights.
“We wouldn’t have gotten that far without her leading us,” said Kickapoo senior Kya Johnson. “And her being a great teammate as well.”
“Even as a sophomore she didn’t really care about age,” Adams said. “She just wanted the ball. She just wanted to help us put banners on the wall and leave a legacy.”
For Bella, her future includes playing volleyball and possibly working in media. The Arizona State commit is Kickapoo’s media commissioner, making hype videos for big school events.
“Filming is a big passion for me,” Bella said. “I love taking memories and learning about all the technical stuff that goes into it. I think it would be cool to be on camera for sure. But I feel like I’m more of a director, taking charge. It would be a really cool dream job.”
But before she makes creating hype videos a career, she’s helping this team create plenty of their own excitement on the court. After winning their first district title in 14 years, appearing in their first Final Four in 28 years, the Lady Chiefs say there’s just one thing left to do.
“Oh, we’re just really hoping to put another banner on that wall,” Bella said. “Just really want to do one last ride together.”
Bella and these Lady Chiefs have already proven the hype is real.
