Top-seeded Miller opened up the Walnut Grove Holiday Tournament with a 60-33 win over Willard Junior Varsity.
The Lady Cardinals kept the Lady Tigers at arm’s length through the first two quarters taking an 18-11 lead after one quarter and 34-23 lead at the half. In the third quarter, Miller stepped up its defense in the third quarter with a 17-3 advantage to put the game out of reach.
Loghann Leivan scored 16 points for Miller to lead all scorers. Ashlyn Helton (15 points) and Rachel Nunez (11 points) also scored in double figures for Miller.

The Lady Cardinals advance to face the winner of No. 8 Ash Grove and No. 9 Pierce City in the quarterfinals at 9 am on Saturday in Walnut Grove. Willard JV will play the loser of that game in the consolation quarterfinals at 12 pm on Saturday in Ash Grove.
