The top seeds rolled in the Class 1 District semifinals with No. 1 seed Walnut Grove winning by 30 and No. 2 seed Lockwood taking a 22-point victory.
Walnut Grove started the semifinals off with a 29-11 advantage in the first quarter on the way to a 59-29 win. Ellie Smith led Walnut Grove and all scorers with 17 points. Jacie Gavisk was also in double figures with 13 points. Walnut Grove had eight different players score.
Lockwood took a 30-19 lead on Dadeville into the half before putting the game away with a 17-2 advantage in the third quarter on the way to a 52-30 win. Kallie Griffin and Adrien Neill finished with matching 15-point totals for Lockwood in the win.
When Walnut Grove and Lockwood tip off for the Class 1 District 4 championship on Friday at Greenfield, it will be the first matchup between the two programs since Feb. 28, 2014 when Walnut Grove beat Lockwood in the Class 1 District 5 tournament.
