It will be No. 1 Aurora vs. No. 3 Mt. Vernon for the Class 4 District 12 championship on Friday after each team won by double digits in the semifinal round.
Top-seeded Aurora got off to a slow start against East Newton, but pulled away in the middle two quarters on the way to a 55-27 win. East Newton took an 11-10 lead on Aurora after one quarter. Aurora responded with a 35-8 run through the middle two quarters to put the game away.
Kylee Cole led all scorers with 17 points for Aurora.
Host Mt. Vernon upset second-seeded Monett 64-47 to advance to the district title game on its home court. The Mountaineers had the advantage in each of the first three quarters on the way to the 17-point win.
Addy Hall (22 points) and Cheyenne Bieber (16 points) led Mt. Vernon.
