It will be No. 1 seed Catholic against No. 3 seed Bolivar in the Class 4 District 10 championship game at Strafford on Saturday.
The Irish came out on top of a back-and-forth affair with Osage by a final of 57-53. Osage took a 14-7 lead after one quarter, but Catholic answered with a 22-10 second quarter to climb out to a 29-24 lead at the half. Osage had an answer in the third quarter with a 19-12 advantage to take a 43-41 lead into the final quarter.
In the decisive quarter, Catholic scored 16 points to Osage’s 10 to win the game 57-53. Jacob Schultze led Catholic with 17 points.
The Irish will face No. 3 seed Bolivar which upset No. 2 seed, and host, Strafford 73-67 in overtime.
The two teams matched each other through the first period at 13-13 before Strafford carried a slim 28-26 lead into the break. Bolivar took the lead after three quarters at 46-45. The Indians answered with a 12-11 fourth-quarter advantage to force overtime.
In the extra frame, Bolivar’s offense had its second-best offensive quarter despite having only four minutes to work with on the way to a 16-10 overtime advantage and 73-67 win.
Catholic and Bolivar will play for the Class 4 District 10 championship at 3 pm on Saturday in Strafford.
