There was little drama in the Class 4 District 12 semifinals, as the top two seeds Seneca and Aurora each won by 30 or more points.
No. 1 Seneca opened up the semifinal action with a 70-40 win over the host Mountaineers. Seneca only led by two points, 13-11, after one quarter. It was the middle two quarters where the Indians put the game away. Seneca outscored Mt. Vernon 42-17 in the second and third quarters to pull away.
Morgan Vaughn scored 23 points to lead Seneca and all scorers. Eight different Seneca players scored in the win.
In the other semifinal, No. 2 Aurora blitzed No. 6 East Newton from the opening tip with a 24-10 lead after one quarter and 48-26 lead at the half on the way to an 87-53 win.
Cannon Thornhill (24 points), Cameron Whitener (21 points), Thomas Lara (17 points) and Dayton McHenry (16 points) led the charge for Aurora.
The Houn Dawgs will face top-seeded Seneca at 3 pm on Saturday in Mt. Vernon for the Class 4 District 12 championship.
