Aurora volleyball returns two varsity players from last season’s 12-win team.

That duo is senior Kena Hall and sophomore Kylee Phelps.

Hall, who had 235 digs and 30 aces as a junior, will take on a libero role this season.

“Kena is moving into the libero position this season,” Aurora head coach Monica McVey said. “She is a player that will play anywhere on the court and work hard to play every ball.”

Phelps will be involved all over the offense.

“Kylee will be setting and hitting outside this season. She has a great swing,” McVey said.

Taylor Rickman (sophomore middle), Nadia Davis (senior DS/right side), Jaelyn Ernest (senior middle), Miley Feringa (sophomore setter/outside hitter), Alyssa Burch (senior right side), Abbi Koehler (senior right side), Addi Hall (sophomore DS) and Emma Young (junior DS) will be newcomers for Aurora.

“With only two returning varsity players, everyone has to put in the work to earn a spot,” McVey said. “Working hard on defense will be the key.”

Aurora travels to Carthage for a jamboree on Aug. 27 with the host Tigers, Nevada and Joplin. The Lady Houns open the season on Sept. 3 at Buffalo.
