Bolivar volleyball puts on parking lot scrimmage inspired by Nebraska’s outdoor game

The Bolivar Lady Liberators were feeling inspired after Nebraska volleyball played in an outdoor volleyball match. So much so, that they did the same.

“It started as a hairbrained idea and then I had,” said Bolivar Head Volleyball Coach Kyle Smith. “Some parents and administrators and people were really behind us and wanted to support us.”
“We’ve never done anything like this and I haven’t known anyone who has done anything like this,” said Bolivar senior Megan Howard. “Especially as a high schooler, with getting all these people in to support us is so special.”

It was a process to convert the Bolivar high school parking lot into a volleyball court.

“The girls came out, a lot of their parents came out, most of their parents actually,” Smith said. “And it took us probably about an hour and a half just to get the floor down.”

But once the lights came on, it was all worth it.

“This team is really special, this is such a great team,” Howard said. “So this is going to help tremendously to get our energy up and just to go into the season with good vibes.”

Although those good vibes will be in a gymnasium the next time Bolivar plays at home, it will be a memory forever treasured by the girls.
