Central boys swimming won four events at the SWMO Swim & Dive Championships on the way to securing the team title with 533 total points. Glendale finished runner-up with 477 points.
The Bulldogs set the tone from the start with a win in the opening 200-yard medley relay, Jonas Tetlow, Brayden Miao, Max German and Quinn Smith combined for a time of 1:40.20 to beat runner-up Nevada by 2.77 seconds.
Central is currently ranked No. 3 in the Class 1 in the relay behind Parkway Central and Glendale.

Four events later, Tetlow and Jason Allen went back-to-back individually winning the 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard freestyle, respectively, Tetlow swam 51.19 which lowered his season-best significantly and has him third in Class 1 in the event according to the MSHSAA performance list. Allen came in with a season-best of 49.79 in the event according to MSHSAA but swam a 48.78 on Saturday to win the SWMO title.
Central’s final event gold came in the 200-yard freestyle relay where Miao, Tetlow, Allen and Smith combined to swim a 1:30.77. The Bulldogs rank No. 4 in Class 1 in the event.
Glendale had two individual event wins on the way to its runner-up finish. Sawyer Andrews swam a time of 21.91 tow in the 50-yard freestyle. Andrews is ranked No. 5 in Class 1 in the event. The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Carson Butler, Carter Roberts, Connor Cook and Andrews won the final event with a time of 3:19.63. It is a season-best performance from the team ranked fourth in Class 1 in the event.
Kickapoo’s Bryce Ruder and Greenwood’s Nathan Wu each won two individual gold medals.

Ruder took first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:43.53) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:43.00). Both were season-best performances that have Ruder ranked in the top 10 for both events in Class 2.
Wu won his gold medals in the 200-yard individual medley (1:54.72) and the 100-yard breaststroke (57.16). His 57.16 is the new top mark in Class 1 for the 100-yard breaststroke. He ranks No. 2 in Class 1 in the 200-yard IM.
Joplin’s Nathan Wardlow also won a gold medal taking the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 52.54. Wardlow ranks fifth in Class 2 in the event.
