Conway girls basketball will look to use its guard depth to be able to put more pressure on opposing teams this season.

“I believe we will have better depth, especially at the guard position and defensively we can put more pressure on teams than we have before,” Conway head coach Matt Wilson said.

The returning players include Miley Weeks (junior guard), Katen Wilson (junior forward), Arianna Hughes (sophomore guard), Alayna Richardson (sophomore guard) and Maddie Thompson (sophomore center).

Hughes led that group in scoring at 10.1 points per game last season. Thompson added in 4.7 points per game while pulling down 191 total rebounds.

Three freshmen in Gracie Emmons (guard), Hailey Doehring (forward) and Addison Peterson (forward) will look to make an immediate varsity impact.

Conway opens the regular season on Nov. 25 at Cabool.

“There’s so little we can do to control results, but the process helps determine success,” Wilson said. “What drives the process is our character. I hope we build stronger character in these players. We are still a young team, so being able to compete closely in every game would be a success.”
