No. 5 seed Pleasant Hope got the Class 2 District 13 tournament started with an upset of No. 4 Lincoln 45-40. The Pirates opened up with a 14-8 lead after one quarter before Lincoln outscored Pleasant Hope 12-9 in the second quarter to cut the Pirates’ lead to 23-20 at the half. Pleasant Hop outscored Lincoln 15-13 in the third quarter and tied in the fourth quarter to secure the upset. Lexi Perryman scored 20 points to lead Pleasant Hope. Kenzie Bader had 10 points in the win. Alyssa Mellen scored 17 points to lead Lincoln.
Pleasant Hope will play No. 1 seed Skyline, the host, in the semifinal round on Thursday at 6 pm.
Osceola was dominant in its opening game as the No. 2 seed. The Indians outscored Lakeland 17-3 in the first quarter and 41-9 in the first half on the way to a 64-20 win. Nine different players scored for Osceola led by Lindsey Shoemaker and Bella Hamby with 11 points each. Laney Uchtman scored 10 points.
Osceola will face No. 3 seed Marion C. Early on Thursday at 7:30 pm in the semifinal round. The Panthers beat Weaubleau 69-37 in the last game of the night on Tuesday. Ireland Foster (15 points), Lilly Thompson (15 points) and Kinley Reed (11 points) led the Panthers in scoring. Sophia Weaver scored a game-high 22 points in the loss.
