St. LOUIS – Missouri State senior Jackson Holmes was named the Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday, making it two consecutive weeks that a Bear has brought home the award following freshman Michael Yusypchuk’s win last week.
Holmes threw a complete-game three-hitter on Saturday against ULM, striking out seven in the Bears’ win.
The senior right-hander from Columbia, Ill., scattered three hits and two walks in the seven-inning contest, finished MoState’s first complete game since Jason Schaaf at Belmont on May 12 of last season.
Holmes and the Bears host Saint Louis at 3 p.m. today at Hammons Field.
