Rick Kindhart (MSU Sports Information) SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State senior offensive lineman Riley Shantz has been invited to attend Green Bay Packers mini camp later this week, the Glendale High School grad confirmed Sunday.
Shantz made 24 starts in his Missouri State career, including primary starting duties on the MSU o-line in 2015 and 2016. He was an All-MVFC honorable mention selection in 2015 and was the club’s starting center in 10 games this fall.
“I am really excited for the opportunity, and I am going to try to make the most of it,” said Shantz. “I am excited to get there and continue playing the game I love after college. I’m going to soak it all in and take advantage of every opportunity. It has been a childhood dream to play in the NFL and this is the start of that opportunity for me.”
According to Shantz, he will arrive in Green Bay on Thursday and immediately begin workouts with the Packers.
On Saturday night, teammate Dylan Cole (LB, Rogersville, Mo.) signed a free agent contract with the Houston Texans.
