Six Springfield Cardinals selected to all-star team

With the 2016 Texas League All-Star Game, presented by Great Southern Bank, coming up on Tuesday, June 28 at Hammons Field, the Texas League has announced rosters for the North Division and South Division All-Star Teams. 

Tickets for the Texas League All-Star Game at Hammons Field are available right now by clicking the link at the bottom of this email or by calling (417) 863-2143. First Pitch of the All-Star Game is scheduled for 7:10pm with a pregame Home Run Derby, presented by Bass Pro Shops, set to begin at 5:45pm. Gates will open at 5:10pm. 

The Cardinals will be represented by six players on the North Division All-Star Team, with C Carson Kelly, OF Harrison Bader and former Missouri State Bears standout 1B Luke Voit each voted as starters. 2B Bruce Caldwell and 3B Paul DeJong will serve as All-Star infield reserves, while RHP Mike Mayers was also selected to the North Division roster but is not expected to play, as he is currently with AAA-Memphis. 

The Cardinals will also be represented by their entire coaching staff, with Field Manager Dann Bilardello, Pitching Coach Jason Simontacchi, Hitting Coach Ramon "Smokey" Ortiz, Coach/Scout T.C. Calhoun, Athletic Trainer Scott Ensell and Strength and Conditioning Coach Lance Thomason at the helm of the North Division Team. 

The full rundown of North Division All-Star Starters is as follows: 

First Base – Eric Aguilera, Arkansas Travelers 
Second Base – Willie Calhoun, Tulsa Drillers 
Third Base – Mauricio Ramos, Northwest Arkansas Naturals 
Shortstop – Drew Maggi, Tulsa Drillers 
Catcher – Carson Kelly, Springfield Cardinals 
Designated Hitter – Luke Voit, Springfield Cardinals 
Outfield – Harrison Bader, Springfield Cardinals 

Outfield – Cal Towey, Arkansas Travelers 
Outfield – Alex Verdugo, Tulsa Drillers 

In addition to Caldwell and DeJong, the North Division will have the following All-Star reserves – Tulsa C Kyle Farmer, Tulsa OF Jacob Scavuzzo and Northwest Arkansas 1B Frank Schwindel. 

Joining Mayers as pitchers on the North Division roster are Tulsa RHP Scott Barlow, RHP Chase De Jong, RHP Trevor Oaks and RHP Brock Stewart, Northwest Arkansas RHP Jake Junis, RHP Kevin McCarthy and RHP Alec Mills, and Arkansas RHP Jordan Kipper and LHP Tyler DeLoach. 

The South Division All-Star Starters are: 

First Base – Ronald Guzman, Frisco RoughRiders 
Second Base – Franklin Barreto, Midland RockHounds 
Third Base – Matt Chapman, Midland RockHounds 
Shortstop – Alex Bregman, Corpus Christi Hooks

South Division All-Star reserves include Frisco C Isiah Kiner-Falefa and OF Preston Beck, Corpus Christi INF J.D. Davis, Midland INF Wade Kirkland and San Antonio INF Jose Rondon. 

South Division All-Star pitchers include San Antonio RHP Adam Cimber and RHP Jason Jester, Corpus Christi LHP Brian Holmes, RHP Brendan McCurry, RHP David Paulino and RHP Keegan Yuhl, Midland RHP Corey Walter and Frisco RHP Adam Parks, LHP Victor Payano and RHP Connor Sadzeck. 

Both rosters are subject to change on account of transactions, injuries and player availability. Participants for the Home Run Derby will be announced at a later time.

Enjoy some of the top power hitting prospects in Minor League Baseball put on a show in the Home Run Derby, starting at 5:45pm before the All-Star Game at 7:10pm. Gates open at 5:10pm.

2,000 fans will receive an exclusive Texas League All-Star Game Commemorative Coin, the perfect keepsake from a historic night at Hammons Field. 

Great Southern Bank All-Star Fireworks Celebration 
Enjoy a can't-miss postgame fireworks celebration to wrap up the special evening at Hammons Field. 

Mascots from around the Texas League 
Louie and Fetch have friends coming from around the league, as official mascots from the seven other Texas League teams will be at Hammons Field, interacting with fans, participating in in-game promotions and more. 

MLB Authentication Program 
For the first time in Minor League Baseball All-Star Game history, Authenticators, Inc., the Official Authenticator Provider of the Major League Baseball Authentication Program, will have authenticators on hand to record all of the history from the Texas League All-Star Game. The Authenticators will collect game-used memorabilia as it leaves the field, including special logo baseballs, bases and jerseys from both teams. These products will be available through MLB Auctions at auction.mlb.com following the Texas League All-Star Game.
