The Republic School District Board of Education is excited to announce Trevyor Fisher as the new Activities and Athletics Director beginning July 1, 2018. Mr. Fisher currently serves as a PE teacher at Republic High School and the varsity boys’ basketball coach, a role he will continue through the current school year and season. His prior experience has provided him with a variety of skills that will serve the students who participate in extra-curricular activities well.
Fisher replaces the retiring Greg Garton, who had been the longest tenured athletic director in the Central Ozark Conference.
Mr. Fisher began his coaching career over 13 years ago at Missouri State University where he served as the Director of Basketball Operations. This position required Mr. Fisher to develop and utilize logistical and organizational skills along with the implementation of public relation efforts, fundraising campaigns and community involvement.
He then joined the Republic School District team in 2012 in the roles that were mentioned above. As the boys’ varsity basketball coach at RHS he led the team in back to back Class 4 State Championships in 2013 and 2014. Also in those years, Mr. Fisher was named Class 4 MBCA Coach of the Year and District 11 Coach of the Year. In 2013 he was named Class 4 Missouri Sportswriters Coach of the Year, and his 2012 and 2016 teams also won Blue and Gold Tournament Championships.
Mr. Fisher indicated that he looks forward to “collaborating with students, teachers and coaches to grow the success and integrity of extra-curricular programs through building a culture of grit, determination and hard work.” Please join us in congratulating Mr. Fisher on his new role that will begin next school year.
