SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Drury Panthers guard Conley Garrison was named a First Team All-Great Lakes Valley Conference performer and guard John Williams was named to the league’s All-Defensive team in a vote of conference coaches this week.
Garrison, a sophomore from Bolivar, and was a unanimous selection to the all-conference team and currently ranks sixth in the GLVC in scoring averaging 17.7 points per game. He also ranks third in the league in assists with 4.9 per game, he leads the conference in three-pointers made with 88, and he is sixth in steals with 1.5 per game. Garrison is also third-best in the GLVC in assist-to-turnover ratio with a +2.25 mark. Garrison is shooting 53 percent from the field for the season, is hitting 42 percent of his three-point attempts and he is a 79 percent free throw shooter. Garrison was the All-Freshman team in the conference last year. This is his first all-conference selection.
John Williams is on the league’s All-Defensive team for the third time in his career. The 6’1 guard from Emporia, Kansas has played in all 29 games this year for Drury and averaged 4.3 rebounds. Williams has 31 steals for the season to go with a 6.3 points per game scoring average.
The Panthers are winners of 10 straight games and finished the regular season 19-10 with a 15-3 mark in the GLVC. They open the conference tournament on Thursday with a game at noon against Indianapolis in Edwardsville, Illinois.
