Gerald Knight’s first season as head coach of the Humansville boys was one of transition. He took over late in the summer, so his first time with his team was the first day of practice. The Tigers won just three games last year, but that total should increase this year with more stability.

Senior Raymond Foley, junior Clarence Foley and sophomores Kooper Bays and Tyler Ball return for the Tigers this year.

Raymond Foley, who stands at 6’3, will be the key player in the paint. He averaged 6 points and 10 rebounds per game last year.

“He (Raymond Foley) will be the anchor of the defense this year. We are looking for Raymond to have a monster year on both ends,” Knight said.

Clarence Foley averaged 4 points, 5 rebounds and 1 steal per game last year.

Freshmen guards Tucker Ahlers and Wyatt Foley will have an immediate impact on the varsity lineup.

“Our biggest strength will be our size and strength. We also had a great summer with my young kids learning to play with my older kids,” Knight said. “We will need to play better all-around on the defensive side of the ball.”

Overall, Knight expects Humansville to have a much more successful season in Year Two.

“My overall expectations for this year will be to compete for a conference championship and continue to build the program,” Knight said. “With the addition of our good freshman group along with the returning starters we have a great chance to compete every night and look forward to having a great year.”

Humansville opens the season on Nov. 25 at Niangua.
