Nixa announces new head football coach John Perry

After searching through 43 applications from nine different states, Nixa Public Schools is honored to announce that John Perry will be the new head football coach for Nixa High School.

Perry is currently the head coach and assistant athletic director for Pearl High School in Pearl, Mississippi, where he has served 12 years as coach. He has a total of 18 years experience as a head coach.

“We are super excited and blessed for the opportunity to join the Nixa Community! We will strive to be the best football program in the state of Missouri and produce young men equipped to be leaders for the future,” stated Perry.

Brandon Clark, athletic/activities director stated, “When searching for someone to carry on the tradition that previous coaches have built, we had high expectations, and coach Perry has met those and has provided a vision for the program in the years ahead.”

During his coaching tenure, Perry has accomplished the following highlights:

-Overall head coaching record (18 years): 174-69
-Pearl High School record (12 years): 107-48
-2017 6A State Champion at Pearl High School
-2016 6A State Runner-up at Pearl High School
-2014 North State Runner-up (final four in state)
-Regional Champions 2008, 2014, 2016, and 2017
-2009 Powerlifting State Champions
-2007 4A North State Runner-up (final four in state)
-2006 4A Region IV Champions at Pearl High School
-2004 4A Region IV Champions at Pearl High School
-2003 Region IV Runner-up at Pearl High School
-Winningest coach in Pearl High School football history with 107 wins
-Pearl High School became only the 3rd football team in Mississippi to post a 16-0 record
-Pearl High School was named the #19 football team in the nation in 2017 by USA today
-Received the Pearl Municipal Broadcasting Sports Founder Award in 2018
-2016 & 2017 Mississippi All-State 6A Coach of the Year
-2016 & 2017 Bank Plus Blitz 16 Coach of the Year
-Regional Coach of the Year (2008, 2014, 2016, & 2017)
-2017 Mississippi Association of Coaches Coach of the Year?
-Selected to be offensive coordinator for the 2014 Mississippi/Alabama All-Star Game
-Led largest turn around in school history at Kosciusko High School from 2-8 to 9-3 in his first year
