PERU, Neb. – The Evangel women’s basketball team led from start to finish Saturday in a 75-39 win over Peru State in the Heart of America Athletic Conference opener for both teams.
The Crusaders (2-2, 1-0) dominated much of the game holding the Bobcats (2-2, 0-1) to just 17 percent shooting from the field while Evangel shot 43 percent from the field.
Four players scored in double figures for Evangel, led by Allison Swanson who added 15 points and eight rebounds. Both Taylor Longley and Narel dos Santos added 11 points while Paige Patterson finished with 10.
Evangel took an early 28-7 first quarter lead and led by as many as 37 with 3:33 left to go in the game. Inside, the Crusaders controlled the boards winning the battle 53-36 and also outscoring Peru State 24-8 in the paint.
15 different Crusaders saw action in the win as 10 different players scored.
Peru State was led by Maddy McPhillips and Kiley Guerue who each finished with 10 points.
