Dadeville girls basketball will be looking to get back over .500 for the first time since 2013 with three starters returning from last year’s 10-win, district runner-up team.
All three returning starters are sophomores in Libby Lakey, Chloe Cornelison and Ellie Mitchell. Lakey led the team in scoring (13 ppg) and assist (4 apg) on her way to all-conference and all-district honors. Cornelison also earned all-conference and all-district honors after leading the team in rebounding (8 rpg). Mitchell was a defensive stopper for the team last year who will add more to the offense this year.
Emaley Lutz is a sophomore post that also returns.

A trio of freshmen in Malory Wince, Lilly Cornelison and Ruby Griffin will look to make an immediate varsity impact. Wince and Cornelison are both forwards while Griffin is a guard.
This group will look to play fast this year.
“We hope to take advantage of our quickness to push the ball on offense and create turn-overs on the defensive end,” Dadeville head coach John Roller said.
Dadeville opened the season with a 29-20 loss to Lockwood. The Lady Bearcats will play next on Dec. 8 at Fair Play.
“The team has a goal to return to the district championship game again this year and see what happens from there,” Roller said. “With hard work and the additional support from an athletic incoming freshmen class, look for us to finish above .500 and build a foundation for the future. With all the team being sophomores or younger, the future looks extremely bright.”
