Football teams around the Ozarks are preparing for the fall season. For Reeds Springs’ Caden Wiest, that means more opportunities to prove himself to Division-I schools.

“I’ve usually been one of the bigger guys around,” Wiest said.

Reed Spring’s Caden Wiest is a big kid with massive potential.

“One of the best things he has going is his ability to do a lot of different things well. For us that means he’s going to play both sides of the ball at our level of football in Missouri,” said Wolves head coach Andy McFarland, “Mizzou and some of the other SEC and Big12 schools have talked to him, worked him out as a tight end.”

His junior season hasn’t even started, and he’s already got a Division-I offer from Missouri State as a defensive end.

“It’s crazy. I’m really enjoying the process right now, still trying to get noticed by a lot more schools but it’s a really fun process I didn’t really expect it all to happen like this. After I got the first one I just want to keep them coming, and just have everyone see what I can do,” Wiest said.

And with his size and speed, his phone will surely be ringing.

“Really this past year was when I actually started working a lot harder than I usually do and it’s paid off a lot so far,” said Wiest.

“I’m also coaching track, and Caden went to state in the open 200 this year. He ran a sub :23 200 meters at 243 (lbs), which is really really good. It’s awesome to see I mean, everybody else out there with him in those sprints are half his size,” McFarland said. “He’s big and he’s fast and so when you have that combination, you’re going to catch the attention of those college coaches because those are the things they’re looking for.”

With time on his side he’s only going to get better.

“We’re lucky here in Class 3 Missouri to have a guy like that on our team,” said McFarland.

I would say look out for Caden Wiest this football season, but he won’t be hard to spot.
