There will be a couple new faces in the dugout for Lebanon softball this season.

Following stints at Stoutland and Climax Springs, Rob Selander and fiancé Jade Robinett take over coaching duties for the Lady Yellowjackets.

“We were very slow to warm up and it took a lot of serious thinking,” Selander said about the Lebanon position. “We don’t like to leave a team with unfinished goals, but after much conversation with many different people and mentors, we decided to make the move to Lebanon. Lebanon is very motivated to be better and establish a long term program. We are very excited for this opportunity.”

Lebanon finished the 2020 season with a record of 18-9. The Lady Jackets fell to Capital City in the district opening round.

“Last year’s team was good and they beat some teams they have not beat before,” Selander said. “We only lost two seniors from last season and only have one senior this year.

That senior is infielder/pitcher Katie Schneider.

“We are a very young team with tons of talent and very motivated to be better,” Selander said. “We are stacked in every position and it’s going to be hard to pick out only nine to start.”

Lebanon opens its season Aug. 27 in the Morrisville Tournament.
